Seventeen year old Jessy Sinclair has an unusual dream. She wants to be Australia’s first female Mustang Car Racing Champion. That’s no mean feat for a teenage girl in the testosterone-injected world of motor sport. While most girls her age spend their free time shopping and talking about boys, Jessy Sinclair straps on a helmet and competes against Australia’s best amateur racing car drivers. It should be a glamorous lifestyle, but it’s not for Jessy Sinclair. Off the racetrack, Jessy is just a sweet and quirky, unattractive teenager — who has an unusual talent.
Concept
‘Facing Jessy’ was originally an inspirational rite of passage book written for girls and boys aged 12-17. It deals with issues of identity, the death of a parent, and overcoming our deepest fears to find a source of inner strength and courage. Jessy Sinclair is a sassy and passionate young girl, who loves deeply and has strong friendships. ‘Facing Jessy’ is a quirky yet loveable story that is similar to Academy Award Winning Motion Picture ‘Juno’ and the Tom Cruise hit ’Days of Thunder.’
‘Facing Jessy’ is a semi-autobiographical work of fiction. Writer/Producer Lindy Lee raced MG sportscars from ages 12-18. She also had major jaw reconstructive surgery in December of 1992 which substantially improved her looks. While Lindy won Miss MG Victoria, she did not win the national beauty competition.
